Connections

A connection shows content from a provider on the place cards of your published maps, under your organization's own account with that provider: a venue's Yelp rating and reviews count, or the next events at a venue from Ticketmaster. You bring the API key; the content is shown under the provider's terms for that key.

Connect a provider

  1. Get an API key from the provider, under your organization's own account and its terms.
  2. In Kaleidr Studio, choose Data, then the Connections tab.
  3. On the provider's card, choose Connect and paste the key.

Studio checks the key with one call to the provider before saving it. A key the provider refuses is not saved. Once saved, the key is never shown again: the card shows only its last four characters, when it was last checked and its status. Replace Key swaps it, Check Now tests it again, and Disconnect deletes it and stops the cards on every map.

Owners and admins can connect, replace and disconnect. Everyone in the organization can see the status.

StatusMeaning
Not ConnectedNo key.
ConnectedThe key works.
Key RejectedThe provider refused the key at its last use. The cards stop until you replace it.
Requires ContractTripadvisor: not available without a signed agreement.

Where the content appears

On place cards only. On a published map, a card of a Venues collection shows the provider's content below its own rows, as on the guide layout. Kaleidr AI never reads it, quotes it or uses it in an answer, and it is never stored in your collections.

Which business or venue. Add a public column yelp_id or ticketmaster_venue_id to a Venues collection to name the exact business or venue. Without one, the card looks for a business of the same name at the place's position on Yelp, and for events at a venue within 200 meters on Ticketmaster.

Display only, under your key. Calls for your maps use your organization's key and no other, and your key is never used for anyone else's map.

Caching and attribution

ProviderContent kept for at mostAttribution
Yelp6 hoursThe Yelp name and logo, and a link to the business on Yelp
Ticketmaster1 hourThe Ticketmaster name and logo, and a link to each event

Cards refresh within those limits, and a visitor's browser keeps a card for at most five minutes. The provider's own identifiers, which match a place to a business or venue, are kept with no time limit, as both providers' terms allow.

Ticketmaster limits a key to a number of calls a day; the cards of your maps make at most 4,500 calls a day with your key, and show no events once that is reached, until the next day.

Why not Tripadvisor or Google Places

  • Tripadvisor content may be shown only under a content agreement signed with Tripadvisor. Its card in Studio stays disabled with Requires a Signed Tripadvisor Content Agreement.
  • Google Places content may be shown only on a Google map. Kaleidr maps draw Kaleidr's own basemap, so Google Places is not offered.
